December 13, 2012...On the road again heading south via I-95 to snowbird for the winter. Retired, no timeclock to punch, in no hurry to go anywhere...we're on our way.
Day one was overcast, misty, cold, and breezy. Camped at Colleton SP near Waterboro, SC. A small SP (about 25 sites) with lots of close pines. J had to back up to keep from clipping a pine. We had our first nighttime visitor. A noise at our backdoor steps. J slowly opened the door to quickly close as it was dark and he could not see. Turned on the outside lights...cracked the door again...to again quickly close. There was a huge soot black cat with the biggest green eyes wanting to come inside. Hmmm After I shewed it off the steps, I was able to snap its pic with my phone camera.
Day two the sun was out warming our bones as we traveled to Golden Isle Passport America campground near Brunswick, GA. J saw our first Armadillo this trip near Savannah, GA. I am enjoying the Palmettos as the foliage is changing from pines to more tropical. I can't seem to get away from trains as one blew and blew and blew just about dark here at this park. Let's hope this track does not have timefreights that run all night long. We plan to be here thru Saturday.
Sunday, Dec. 16, we will be heading south again to get somewhere south of Jacksonville, FL. Want to beat the rain that is forecast for Mon./Tues. Then it will be further south or west...depending on the weather.
Take care everyone. See you by the campfire.
