Gulf Breeze & Pensacola, FL

Pensacola is located in Escambia County in the CST time zone.  It is the westernmost city in the FL Panhandle.  A seaport on Pensacola Bay, which connects to the Gulf of Mexico.  Originally inhabited by Muskogean peoples which is a family of Native American Indian languages of the southeastern US.  This language is spoken or formerly spoken by the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Alabama tribes. Pensacola was once nicknamed "City of Five Flags" due to the five different governments that flew flags over it during its history...Spain, France, Great Britain, Confederate States of America, and the United States.  Some other nicknames are...Red Snapper, World's Whitest Beaches, Redneck Riviera, and Western Gate to the Sunshine State.  The first United States Naval Air Station is located southwest of Pensacola and is home to the Blue Angels flight demonstration team.

Since 2008, Pensacola's mascot has been the Pelican.  New Years Eve they have the Pelican Drop.  The bird is made of polished aluminum and decorated with over 2000 lights.  The bird has a wingspan of 17 feet and is 12 feet high.  It drops 100 feet amid fireworks, confetti, and a cheering crowd.

Gulf Breeze is a suburb of Pensacola located on the Fairpoint Peninsula in Santa Rosa County.  General Delivery mail was a breeze from their PO.   First time ever for us.  Our mail pkg. arrived on time with the postal service e-mailing us of its arrival.  Points of interest here are the Naval Live Oaks Area and the Gulf Breeze Zoo.  The Zoo has 850+ animals plus a new baby Nile Hippo born October 3, 2013, weighing in at a healthy 65 pounds.
Having fun.  See you by the campfire.
