On Tuesday (Feb. 18), our campground host threw a Lasagna party at the clubhouse with 15 attending. We fixed Cathy half moon cakes for the bash cutting them into 3 pieces giving everyone a nice bite. Was fun!

We're enjoying our stay here at POC ("end of the road")...especially the hot tub & Library. Shirley is on top of everything...even the local gossip. LOL We have picked up a few new recipes to try, have watched quite a few movies (free from the library) as well as the 2014 Olympics with hockey our favorite sport. Also met and made some new snowbird friends.
Do you recognize this critter? Well, let me inform you...it is NOT Pepe Le Pew. Definitely a skunk also known as a polecat! Daily their airomatic perfume is somewhere in our travels...not once; but, several times along the highways. PEW! A member of the Weasel family, the striped skunk is a boldly colored nocturnal animal noted for their "waddle" walk and musky odor when scared. They are the #1 carrier of the Rabies virus.
On our way home we had to stop to get a pic of this wild boar's tusks. He had not make it across the highway. I had read of a hog mauling about 3 wks. ago on the Pearl River in LA. The hunter survived; but, not without severe damage to his leg. These teeth and tusks are nothing to play with.
A stop by the POC post office. Our package of mail from Mom had arrived. YEAH! Finally some much missed mail...Christmas cards and particulars to do TAXES.
Tuesday...we ventured to the POC Community Center to join our Oklahoma camping friends & all others in lunch. Any senior in Port O’Connor is welcomed to participate in these weekly gatherings at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. These tasty, hot lunches only costs $3 each for seniors ($5 each for those under 60). Another yummy meal cheaper than McDonald's. Today's menu was 2 chicken fingers with gravy, English peas with red peppers and onion, rice, a roll, cookie, water or tea or milk. After the huge turn out that surprised the cooks...there were a few chicken fingers left over to pass around for those hungry folk. Bingo was to follow...but, not Bingo folk...we chose to check out the pier and bay. The skies continue to be overcast with fog, mist, & occasional rain. Tugs were pushing barges up/down the ICW. No fish to be seen. Birds of all sorts were out along the shoreline, jetties, and marsh. Back at camp I have worked on my blogs while Jim has piddled on TAXES. I have occasionallly stopped to calculate for him.
Tomorrow...Wednesday...February 26th will be cleaning and pack-up day to head up the road again for new adventures. Take care...safe travels. See you by the campfire.
