April showers can bring May flowers; but, at this homestead it will bring veggies. Have not been home a week from our winter snowbird adventure until J whipped out the tiller breaking soil for a garden. Our first flat of plants were purchased April 8th...tomatoes, peppers, yellow squash, zucchini, & cucumbers. Planting fever is here!

We have picked up pine cones of all sizes/shapes/forms. Spring Chickweed is trying to run rampant. As of today (Friday...April 11th) the garden is almost planted. I with my catchy knee had J on the John Deere rolling stool planting the peppers while our garden deer looks on. Our swamp fox and bunny have made tracks through the plowed soil. I'll have to keep a close eye on my tender green plants.

J is dodging the water sprinkler as he adjusts it for watering the planted garden. Here is our list... 2 rows Radish, 2 rows Stilly Pole Beans, 1 1/2 rows, King of the Garden Pole Large Lima Beans, 1 row regular sandwich tomatoes, 4 Roma tomatoes, 4 Bell...4 Big Green...4 Anaheim peppers, 6 short rows of Georgia Big Boy peas (similar to a Black-eye pea), 8 hills Burpless Cucumbers, 8 Zucchini, 2 rows Yellow Straightneck squash...with more to plant tomorrow. Have more Yellow and Green Squash to plant along with Okra, and more peas. If I get enough peas, I will can some in jars. J loves Zucchini Nut Bread and Squash Casseroles. Thinking about canning some Roma tomatoes whole. Will be interesting. I have a few garlic to plant, too. So, busy, busy, busy. So much to do and want to do with little time.
Now time to kick back with the Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta and some wild Hockey.
Take care until next time...travel safe...see you by the campfire, garden or...let's string beans. LOL
